I’ve renovated my own 1970s-era home here in the High Desert — from insulation and roof repairs to fans, fixtures, and the endless list that comes with owning a property.

High Desert Handy Lady began as an idea over Christmas 2025 on a visit to see my grandparents in Wales, they always have a list waiting for me.
The small things that slowly become big frustrations when you don’t have the strength, tools, confidence or time to tackle them yourself.
And I can never stay long enough to finish the list.
That realization stayed with me.
If I can’t always be there for them, I can be there for someone else’s grandparents. Someone else’s parents. Someone else who simply needs a capable, trustworthy person to take care of the things piling up around the house.
And I discovered something important:
I genuinely love doing it.
I love practical problem-solving. I love turning “I’ve been meaning to fix that for months” into “It’s done.” I love making a home feel safer, warmer, more functional, and more peaceful.
